Trimming and cutting
Video trimmer vs. video cutter
Trimming usually shortens the beginning or end. Cutting can also remove a section from the middle. FlowPick supports both workflows with the same exact start and end controls.
Trim an intro or ending
Remove setup time, countdowns, silence or extra footage around the useful part.
Create a focused clip
Keep one exact excerpt from a longer recording, tutorial, interview or downloaded video.
Remove a middle section
Delete an unwanted interval and join the remaining video into one output file.
Cut video at exact start and end times
Use the filmstrip for visual navigation, move the video playhead, then refine both boundaries with timestamp fields. Precise cuts are useful for recordings, tutorials, interviews and long videos where a few frames matter.
Visual: drag the handles on the timeline
Precise: enter a timestamp such as 00:03:24.200
Trim MP4 videos online
MP4 is the most common video container and is the practical default for sharing. FlowPick reads the video locally and keeps the original resolution. Fast trim preserves compatible source codecs; Precise trim creates an H.264/AAC MP4. Browser codec support still depends on the tracks inside the source file.
Supported video formats
FlowPick can open MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV and M4V files when your browser can decode the codecs inside them. Output is MP4 or WebM; unsupported codecs, DRM and damaged files cannot be processed.
| Input | Preview | Output |
|---|---|---|
| MP4 / M4V | Browser codec dependent | MP4 or WebM |
| WebM | Usually supported | MP4 or WebM |
| MOV | Codec dependent | MP4 or WebM |
| MKV | Codec dependent | MP4 or WebM |
Can you trim a video without losing quality?
Fast trim keeps compatible source codecs and avoids quality loss by copying encoded packets. Precise trim re-encodes the video so it can honor frame-level boundaries; High quality minimizes visible loss, while Smaller file trades more detail for size.
Why do exact cut points require re-encoding?
Compressed video depends on keyframes and frames that reference earlier images. Fast trim starts at a nearby keyframe and copies the original packets. Precise trim decodes and rebuilds the stream when an exact boundary or middle-section removal is required.
What can you trim a video for?
Screen recordings
Remove setup steps before the real action and idle footage after it ends.
Tutorials and lessons
Keep a focused explanation or remove an outdated section before sharing.
Interviews and podcasts
Create a short video excerpt with exact start and end times.
Camera footage
Cut away accidental recording, repositioning and unusable footage.
Downloaded videos
Open a permitted FlowPick download directly in the trimmer without choosing it again.
Social clips
Shorten a longer video into a concise segment before uploading elsewhere.
Private by design
Trim videos directly in your browser
Inspection, thumbnail generation, preview and encoding run locally on this device. The video is not sent to a FlowPick processing server. Very large or long videos still depend on available memory, storage, codec support and device performance.

Video Trimmer FAQ
How do I trim a video online?
Choose a local video, set the start and end, select Keep selection, preview it, then encode and download the result. The file is processed in your browser.
How do I cut an MP4 video?
Open the MP4, drag the timeline handles or enter timestamps, choose MP4 output and select Trim video. The browser creates a new H.264/AAC MP4 when its codecs are supported.
Can I remove a section from the middle of a video?
Yes. Select Remove selection, mark the unwanted interval and preview the edit. FlowPick re-encodes and joins the video before and after that section.
Can I enter exact start and end times?
Yes. The time fields accept hours, minutes, seconds and milliseconds. The encoder aligns output to representable video and audio timestamps.
Can I trim without losing quality?
Yes, when Fast trim is available for the source codecs and output container. It copies the original encoded packets, but boundaries align to keyframes and packet boundaries. Choose Precise trim when exact timing matters.
Which formats can I trim?
Common MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV and M4V inputs work when the browser can decode their internal codecs. Output is MP4 or WebM.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no fixed upload limit because nothing is uploaded. Files from 96 MB automatically use disk-backed large-file mode. FlowPick checks the required browser storage before encoding; available quota, video duration, codec support and device performance remain the practical limits.
Is my video uploaded to a server?
No. The selected file, thumbnails and output remain on your device unless you later upload or share the result yourself.
