Separate DASH video and audio

These samples were generated for FlowPick: a four-second test pattern with a 440 Hz tone, plus a separate two-second WAV tone. They contain no third-party footage or speech.

Input, steps and checks
Input
A static four-second MPD with one H.264 video representation at 160 × 90 and one AAC audio representation.
What to do
Install and enable the current FlowPick extension before using this download page. The analyzer can inspect an accessible manifest without the extension. Analyze the manifest, then download with both tracks selected. Inspect the saved file with Media Information.
What to check
The analyzer should show 1 period, 2 adaptation sets and 2 representations, with no DRM declarations. The output should have picture and sound.

Small timing differences around four seconds can result from audio frames and container timestamps. This sample does not test multi-period manifests, DRM or large files.

Frequently Asked Questions

MPD (Media Presentation Description) is the manifest format for Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH), an open standard maintained by the DASH Industry Forum. It describes video and audio segments that FlowPick can download and merge into a single MP4 file — no FFmpeg needed.
HLS uses M3U8 playlists and is Apple's standard defined in RFC 8216, while DASH uses MPD manifests and is an open standard. Both split video into segments for adaptive streaming. FlowPick supports both protocols equally.
The extension automatically detects MPD/DASH streams on webpages, saving you from manually finding and copying stream URLs. It also provides batch download, smart filtering, and in-browser fragment merging.
The browser extension and local tools are free to use. Optional account and cloud-transfer features have the plans and usage limits shown in the product.
The extension has no analytics SDK, and the normal download workflow processes media in your browser. The website may use analytics; a source is sent to FlowPick infrastructure only when you choose the clearly marked cloud-transfer option.
The extension is available for Chrome, Edge and Firefox. For large downloads that require a chosen output directory, use desktop Chrome or Edge. Firefox can use supported local tools, but does not offer the same directory-writing workflow. Codec and recording support depend on the browser and device.
No. FlowPick merges streaming fragments entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. No external software, plugins, or command-line tools are required.
Yes. FlowPick supports batch downloads with parallel connections. You can add multiple streams to the queue, pause, resume, or cancel them at any time.
Try downloading in a different quality level. Some streams may have corrupted segments. You can also try using VLC's "Always Fix" option to repair the file.
Some websites use DRM protection, encrypted streams, or custom protocols that are not publicly accessible. FlowPick works best with standard DASH streams and direct video files.
Yes. FlowPick's smart filtering lets you filter segments by size, type, or duration. Short ad segments are automatically identified and can be excluded from the download.
Use FlowPick only for media you created, are authorized to save, or whose license permits downloading. It does not bypass DRM, paywalls, sign-in requirements, or access controls.
Download speed depends on your current internet connection, the source server or CDN, network congestion, segment count, and any connection limits imposed by the source. FlowPick does not impose a fixed speed limit.
If automatic download is available, the completed file is saved to your browser's default Downloads folder. If the page displays a Save to disk button, click it and choose a destination in the system save dialog. Browser-private OPFS files are temporary and are cleaned up after a successful save.
DASH usually keeps video and audio in separate tracks. Select both tracks so FlowPick can merge them into one file. If the stream is protected by Widevine or PlayReady DRM, it cannot be downloaded.
MPD is the manifest format used by MPEG-DASH, while M3U8 is used by HLS. Use the M3U8 downloader when the stream URL ends in .m3u8.
The MPD may require cookies or a referer, block cross-origin requests, use relative URLs, or be protected by DRM. Try opening the video page with the FlowPick extension so the request context is preserved.
